[en] A system of optical filaments has been discovered surrounding the central galaxy in the X-ray cluster A 496. This suggests that the intracluster gas in A496 is cooling and being accreted by that galaxy. Observations of the X-ray surface brightness and spectrum support this interpretation. (author)
