AbstractAbstract
[en] The main safety design criteria prescribed by French safety authorities for the licensing of SUPERPHENIX are reviewed. Their relation with the present available experience from operating plants such as PHENIX, and with the current thinking on important safety issues, is discussed. Although French safety philosophy does not privilege low probability-high consequences accidents, but rather put the emphasis on the prevention of all plausible accidents, the analysis of hypothetical core disruptive accidents is summarized. The paper ends up with a presentation of the trends for future large power LMFBR's safety concepts. 6 refs
