AbstractAbstract
[en] The design features of fast reactors which ensure their safe shutdown in the event of a fault are discussed. Particular attention is paid to the requirements for the control rod system and to the instruments provided to detect single sub-assembly faults and prevent their escalation to faults involving the whole core. Other possible hypothetical core disruptive accidents are considered and particular attention is paid to special design measures to prevent their arising from failure of major structures. 2 refs
