[en] The Soviet nuclear power programme for 1981 to 1985 was based on an annual commissioning of 7,000 to 10,000 MW out of a total of 35,000 to 50,000 MW. Some delays have been experienced as a result of technical difficulties, but even so new plant is being commissioned in increasing capacities each year. Recent developments include the Rovno-2 plant (440 MW) in E. Ukraine and a 1000 MW reactor, Leningrad 4. The largest single unit of nuclear power (4000 MW) is now in Leningrad. (G.C.)
