[en] Computer simulations have been carried out to check that the ringlet structure of Saturn's rings, which were revealed during the encounter of Voyager 1 with Saturn in November 1980, are due to collisional amplification of density fluctuations in the rings as predicted by Hameen-Anttila (Astrophys. Space Sci.; 56:421 and 58:477 (1978)) for the collisional evolution of keplerian systems. The present simulations showed a strong, irreversible growth in the density maximum. (U.K.)
