AbstractAbstract
[en] We explore the utility and feasibility of neutral beams of greater than or equal to 6 AMU formed from negative ions, and also of D0 formed from D-. The negative ions would be accelerated to approx. 1 to 2 MeV/AMU and neutralized, whereupon the neutral atoms would be used to heat and, perhaps, to drive current in magnetically confined plasmas. Such beams appear feasible and offer the promise of significant advantages relative to conventional neutral beams based on positive deuterium ions at approx. 150 keV
