AbstractAbstract
[en] A microscopic model is suggested to explain the illumination-induced sudden darkening of evaporated a-GeSe2 films, applying the cooperative mechanism of charge disproportionation of defect centres described earlier by the author and E. Tosatti. In the present picture, photo-induced D0 centres dilute the system of charged defects until the Madelung energy is no longer able to sustain a charged phase, and a collapse into a dark phase ensues. The concomitant change in photocurrent is also discussed. (author)
