AbstractAbstract
[en] Differential equations describing the heat tranfer in shell - and tube heat exchangers are derived and solved numerically. The method of ΔT sub(lm) is compared with the proposed method in cases where the specific heat at constant pressure, Cp and the overall heat transfer coefficient, U, vary with temperature. The error of the method of ΔT sub (lm) for the computation of the exchanger lenght is less than + 10%. However, the numerical method, being more accurate and at the same time easy to use and economical, is recommended for the design of shell-and-tube heat exchangers. (Author)

Sao derivadas e resolvidas numericamente as equacoes diferencias descrevendo a transferencia de calor nos trocadores de calor de carcaca e de tubos. O metodo de ΔT sub(lm) e comparado com o metodo proposto em casos onde o calor especifico Cp e o coeficiente de transferencia de calor global U variam com a temperatura. O erro do metodo de ΔT sub (lm) no calculo do comprimento do trocador de calor nao ultrapassa + 10% nos casos considerados. Contudo, o metodo numerico, sendo mais preciso e, ao mesmo tempo, de utilizacao facil e economica, e recomendado no projeto de trocador de calor de carcaca e tubos. (Autor)Original Title
