[en] This investigation is intended to do the following: (1) to determine the possibilities and the reliability of ultrasonic tests applied to Cecil type welds in accordance with the specifications employed. (2) To find the ideal ultrasonic techniques for the automation of inspections of this type of weld. The results presented are a summary of the laboratory work conducted on simulated plane defects. Considering the state of progress of the study, two partial conclusions may be drawn. (1) The detection levels of simulated defects are much lower than the conventional notation levels of the CPFC and the ASME Code, and lower than those used during complete inspection of PWR vessels in service. Hence these indications are not taken into account. (2) The testing methods (''echo'' and ''tandem'') must be combined and their complementary nature should guarantee sufficient detection reliability

La presente etude a pour buts de: 1) Determiner les possibilites et la fiabilite du controle par ultrasons applique aux soudures de type CECIL suivant les specifications utilisees. 2) Rechercher les techniques ultrasonores les mieux adaptees a l'automatisation des controles de ce type de soudure. Les resultats presentes sont la synthese des travaux effectues en laboratoire sur des defauts plans simules. Compte-tenu de l'etat d'avancement de l'etude, deux conclusions partielles peuvent etre tirees: 1) Les niveaux de detection des defauts simules sont tres inferieurs aux niveaux de notation conventionnels selon le C.P.F.C. ou le code ASME et a ceux utilises lors des visites completes des cuves de reacteurs PWR en service. Ces indications ne seraient donc pas prises en compte. 2) Les methodes d'examen (''echo'' et ''tandem'') doivent etre associees et leur caractere complementaire devrait assurer une fiabilite de detection suffisanteOriginal Title
