AbstractAbstract
[en] An optically translucent scintillator suitable for use in computerized tomography detectors may be produced by hot pressing a phosphor powder. Suitable phosphors are BaFC1:Eu, LaOBr:Tb, CsI:T1, CaWO4, and CdWO4. The hot pressing may occur in an inert atmosphere, such as helium or argon. Other methods comprise heating the phosphor following cold pressing, controllably cooling the melted phosphor, or hot forging a sintered slug of phosphor material
