AbstractAbstract
[en] Within the framework of the ''naturalness'' hypothesis for the Yukawa couplings, fermion mass ratios are shown to require the energy scale for grand unification and the energy scale for SU(4)sub(colour) breaking to be greater than 109 - 1010 GeV. Hence very low energy unification and neutron-antineutron oscillations in grand unified theories are incompatible with the ''naturalness'' of the Yukawa couplings and the masses of the Higgs scalars.
