[en] This document describes the strategy of the Defense Waste Management Program in meeting the technology requirements for long-term management of high-level waste (HLW) at the individual DOE defense sites at the Savannah River Plant near Aiken, SC, the Hanford Plant near Richland, WA, and the Idaho Chemical Processing Plant near Idaho Falls, ID. The immediate program focus is on implementing waste processing strategy selected in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) at Savannah River, while continuing development of alternative strategies at Hanford and Idaho until such time as the required documents are scheduled in compliance with NEPA
