AbstractAbstract
[en] Methods of separation of 90Sr and 137Cs contained in a high-level liquid waste with inorganic ion exchangers and solidification of these nuclides are being developed in collaboration with Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. Ltd. In the fiscal year of 1981, a method of practical application of the inorganic ion exchangers column packed with titanic acid and zeorite was developed, and calcination and solidification of titanic acid adsorbent was studied fundamentally for a completion of a processing method of the liquid waste secondary generated from partitioning of a high-level liquid waste. In the former about 10 l of the high-level liquid waste generated in 1968 from testing reprocessing of spent fuels in JAERI was processed and the results disclosed that the decontamination factors of 90Sr and 137Cs reached up to over 105 and the present method would be applicable to processing of the liquid waste secondary generated from partitioning. In the latter changes of properties of titanic acid adsorbing Sr in the course of heating up to 10000C were studied by X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis. (author)
