[en] Next-generation ignited, low-fluence tokamaks with normal conducting and superconducting coils were studied with a view to reducing direct capital costs with normal conducting coils. Costing basically relies on the JET cost breakdown and JET prices. Good agreement with INTOR cost estimates is obtained. Comparison of systems having equal performance objectives and plasma parameters shows a 50% reduction of direct capital costs in the normal conducting case. (orig.)
