AbstractAbstract
[en] This document is a summary of all the experiments conducted by EG and G Idaho, Inc., for the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission in the Loss-of-Fluid Test (LOFT) facility. The LOFT facility is a 50-MW(t) pressurized water reactor (PWR) system with instruments that measure and provide data on the system thermal-hydraulic and nuclear core behavior during various types of accident conditions. The operation of the LOFT system is typical of large [approx. 1000-MW(e)] commercial PWR operations. The LOFT Experimental Program included 10-mini-blowdown experiments to check out the LOFT system and 30 integral system experiments. The integral system experiments consisted of six experiment groups including nonnuclear large breaks, and nuclear large breaks, small breaks, intermediate breaks, operational transients, and anticipated transients with multiple failures
