[en] The paper deals with transition radiation by a charge transversing 2D electron gas separating two media. An energy flow of the bulk electromagnetic (EM) waves and the surface EM ones (2D plasmons) radiated by the charge has been calculated. Analysis of the spectral characteristics of the transition radiation enables one the information about properties of the 2D electron gas to be obtained
