AbstractAbstract
[en] Several cosmological theories have been proposed in which the neutron plays a crucial role. An account is first given of theories which are now known to be incapable of accounting for the observed properties of the Universe. A discussion follows of the significance of the neutron half-life in the hot big bang and of the possible role of phase transitions involving neutrons in a cold big bang. (author)
