[en] During northern winter the regions on the earth of greatest tropospheric pressure drop following the interaction of solar corpuscular streams with the magnetosphere coincide with the regions of enhanced charged-particle flux observed south of the polar oval at heights of 200--300 km. These energetic-particle regions correspond to the Iceland, Canadian, Chukotsk-Aleutian, and Siberian World Magnetic Anomalies
