[en] This report describes the trial use of a preprinted license renewal form to reduce processing time. Other analyses (SAND83-7081/1 of 3 and SAND83-7081/2 of 3) have concluded that license renewals generate more deficiency letters than other actions, and that these contribute significantly to license processing time. This effort developed a preprinted form which utilized existing license data and standardized responses to complete most of a renewal application. This was mailed to selected licensees in advance of their license expiration. Results are tabulated in the report, but do not provide a statistically valid basis for conclusion on the effectiveness of this procedure. The report recommends continuing the use of a modified procedure, establishing a better basis for evaluation, and identifying opportunities for use in other license categories
