[en] Transverse losses of ''central'' ions entrapped in the end mirrors of the ambipolar mirror system in the case of rare collisions are considered. These losses are associated with a strong extention of drift surfaces in the direction of one of the system symmetry planes and can considerably decrease the plasma confinement time.
