[en] Transverse losses of ''central'' ions entrapped in the end mirrors of the ambipolar mirror system in the case of rare collisions are considered. These losses are associated with a strong extention of drift surfaces in the direction of one of the system symmetry planes and can considerably decrease the plasma confinement time. Expressions are found for the ion flow from an ambipolar trap
