AbstractAbstract
[en] Over the past four years, the 14-meter millimeter wave telescope of the Five College Radio Astronomy Observatory has been used to survey the galactic plane in the CO emission line. This paper presents recent results from the Massachusetts - Stony Brook galactic plane surveys including: (1) a comparison of the northern and southern CO distributions provided by a 12CO and 13CO survey along the galactic equator in the fourth quadrant using the NRAO 36-foot telescope and the 4.6-meter Univ. of Texas MWO telescope; (2) an l-b survey of the entire first and second quadrants out to b = 2.5 deg; (3) a measure of the spatial contrast in CO emission in the inner galaxy on scales of a few kpc2 from our most recent 3 arc minute survey; and (4) a determination of the mass spectrum of molecular clouds.
