[en] An introduction to UF₆ handling at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant (ORGDP) is provided. The physical properties and hazards of UF₆ are discussed. A summary of the history of safety analysis work including the UF₆ Cylinder Handling Committee, Engineering Safety Analysis, and the interim Operational Safety Requirements are included. The ORGDP's experience operating under the interim OSR is discussed. The present status of the Final Safety Analysis and Final Operational Safety Requirements documents is also discussed
