[en] Two 500 metre lengths of cable, one using Arylef (Polyarylate) as its dielectric and outer sheath and the other PEEK, (Polyetheretherketone) were successfully manufactured. Both were subjected to a series of tests aimed at demonstrating their suitability for use with radiation detectors. Arylef proved to have little advantage over cables already in use, but PEEK showed superior radiation and temperature resistance to anything present employed. This material may have wide application in cables for difficult environments. (author)
