[en] The Nevada Nuclear Waste Storage Investigations project has as one of its principal objectives the conceptual design of the buildings and facilities that will be required at a repository for commercially generated radioactive waste. This report has been prepared for use by the repository designers in the conceptual design of the high-level and transuranic waste-handling facilities and equipment. The report contains a description of the radioactive waste expected at the repository; a description of the shipping casks and the facility casks; and a description of the waste receiving, handling, packaging, transfer, and emplacement operations. Waste retrieval operations are also discussed
