AbstractAbstract
[en] An overview of Mound's WASP System is presented to other DOE contractors who will be shipping transuranic (TRU) waste to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) site; it focuses on how to meet the information requirements specified by the WIPP. Other contractors may use this document as a planning tool in various ways: (1) they may be able to incorporate the ideas and concepts presented here in their own system; (2) they may, if they have an operating system compatible with that of Mound, implement the whole system intact at their own site; or (3) they may extract parts of the system for their own use. Mound will supply the source code for our programs to any site attempting to use the system intact. The main considerations in determining the compatibility of a specific site are that it currently uses COBOL and MFS (IBM's Message Format Service), and that it uses the IMS Data Base Management System. It may be possible for a site using COBOL and MFS but some other data base management system to convert the COBOL programs to run under their system; however, since IMS is a hierarchical data base management sustem, it would be important that the system being used also be hierarchical. Thus, the programs could be converted without having to change the basic logic within them
