AbstractAbstract
[en] Interference phenomena occuring in heavy ion elastic scattering reactions are considered. The scattering amplitude can be divided into two parts which, when extracted from optical model phase shifts, promise to offer an incisive tool for the analysis of angular distributions. The α + 40Ca reaction is used as an example of the usefulness of the scattering amplitude decomposition
