AbstractAbstract
[en] The available corrosion literature was reviewed in order to estimate the extent of corrosion that would occur to electrically isolated Type 316L stainless steel buried at a depth of 14 m at the Hanford commercial low-level radioactive waste disposal site. After 300 y of exposure in Burbank loamy sand the estimated corrosion is as follows: the average uniform metal loss would be less than 1 mil; pitting penetration is estimated at 200 mil; and the pit density (assuming that all of the metal loss is due to pitting and that all of the pits are of uniform depth) should be less than 1 pit/ft2. 7 figures, 9 tables
