[en] To impove the sensitivity and to simplify the analysis of zirconium-containing objects for yttrium, 1-(2'-oxy-4'-nitrophenyl)-3-ethyl-5-(1''-benzylbenzimidazolyl-2'')-phormazane is suggested as an organic reagent for photometric determination. Yttrium determination is possible in the concentration range of 0.1-3.6 μg/ml in water-acetone medium at pH 6.5-7.5. Zirconium up to the concentration of 50 μg/ml does not hinder yttrium determination
