AbstractAbstract
[en] Starting from a broken-symmetry theory of gravity, with Lagrangian density L=1/2epsilon phi 2R + 1/2phi sub(;k) phi sup(;k) V(phi) + βR2ln(R/μ2), we construct a quasi-de Sitter space-time in which phi acts as the inflaton field. The initial value of phi is expected to be very small, phi << phisub(O) (where V(phisub(O))=O), even if the universe is chaotic then. Effects associated with the trace anomaly Tsub(anom) approx. = 2βR2 do not violate the observed limits on the anisotropy of the cosmological microwave background radiation. (author)
