[en] A nonlocal and nonadiabatic expression for the pondermotive force near gyroresonance are presented in a case of uniform magnetic field. Due to nonlocality with an arbitrary rhosub(i)/Δ and nonadiabaticity with an intermediate value of xisub(i)/Δ where rhosub(i) is the ion Larmor radius, xisub(i) is the ion excursion length, and Δ is the radial scale length of rf electric field, the ponderomotive force is found to be small rather than infinite near gyroresonance. Comparision between the present results and the adiabatic results are made in detail. (author)
