AbstractAbstract
[en] Fuel elements are stored in metal casings with caps in fuel element storage pools filled with water. In case that any gaseous fission products or radiolysis hydrogen escapes from a failed fuel element, they are lead over the casing caps into a bell-shaped hood above the cap. This hood acts as a floating gasometer-bell. Its position can be observed. The gas in the gasometer-bell is pumped out through a hose, may be also with a valve. The gasometer-bell may have a lifting handle as well. (orig./PW)
