AbstractAbstract
[en] Multiplicity distributions of secondary particles and correlations between secondary particles are calculated for pion and proton collisions with heavy nuclei in the framework of the additive quark model of multiple production on nuclei. It is shown that intranuclear cascades are responsible for up to 50% of the nuclear increase in the multiplicity of fast particles. Sensitivity of the multiplicities and the correlations to the choice of the quark hadronization function is analysed. It is shown that the yield of relativistic secondary particles from heavy and intermediate nuclei depends, with a reasonable accuracy, only on the number of recoil protons knocked out of the nucleus, Nsub(p), but not on the atomic number of the nucleus (this effect is called the Nsub(p) scaling)
