[en] The paper describes the features of a flowmeter which operates on the principle of the Karman vortex street. Vortices are produced by a bluff body in a stream at a frequency which is proportional to the stream velocity. Because of its many advantages, such as the frequency output, the large measuring range and the high accuracy the vortex shedding flowmeter has aroused a considerable amount of interest. Experiments have been carried out with a commercial vortex flowmeter installed at the Primary Circuit of the Rossendorf Research Reactor. (author)
