[en] Studies on the effects of ionizing radiation on cell membranes revealed dose-dependent changes. That is why the idea of the possible use of radiation-provoked membrane reaction as a biological indicator has been developed. Summarizing our experience in this field it is reasonable to state that the functional changes of cell membranes upon ionizing radiation can be considered as possible biological indicators of radiation injury in irradiated organisms.
