[en] Scanning electron microscopy, fractography and X-ray analysis are used to study mechanical erosion and crystal structure of molybdenum contact coatings produced by plasma arc spraying. The coating brittle fracture is of mixed trans- and intercrystalline character. Interaction between molybdenum coating crystal structure and the character of mechanical erosion is established. The ways of increasing the coating resistance to brittle fracture are analysed
