AbstractAbstract
[en] Today most of the conventional nuclear power reactors in the world use ceramic oxides of fissionable materials as fuel. Typically these reactors (both light or heavy water) are fuelled with either natural or enriched oxide of uranium. UO2 powders are fabricated in the form of high density sintered pellets which are loaded into the fuel rods. Fabrication procedures are as following: 1. Preparation of powder for pressing. 2. Pressing. 3. Sintering. 4. Grinding. Each step consists of several parameters which are important in the final sintered pellet production. Some of these parameters are: grain size, lubricant, pressing pressure, sintering time, etc. Our laboratory experiments on the effects of these parameters on UO2 pellet fabrication are presented
