AbstractAbstract
[en] The methods of constructing stellarator-type magnetic configurations are considered and their basic characteristics are given. Main aspects of investigation of MHD plasma confinement in stellarators are stated. The problems connected with the determination of the limiting value of plasma pressure, its equilibrium and stability are discussed. Theoretical problems with respect to current-driven kink modes in stellarators are considered. Experimental data obtained using different facilities are given. A conclusion is made concerning the present state of the theory of MHD equilibrium and stability of plasma in stellarators and main tendencies of its development are outlined
