AbstractAbstract
[en] Essence of the concept of the direct reaction, and of its corresponding theory is first discussed. Then the reason why this theory may be used to describe continuum cross sections is discussed, it being supported by results of a few realistic calculations. It is also shown, somewhat surprisingly, that the direct reaction technique can be used to describe even the fusion between heavy ions. (Auth.)
