AbstractAbstract
[en] A way of using dry silica gel as the carrier of mixed calibration standards for neutron activation analysis is proposed. An advantageous method was found for cleaning silica gel - twice repeated boiling with diluted hydrochloric acid, drying and calcining at a temperature of 750 degC when the content of impurities is reduced to such a level that the error caused by their contribution does not exceed 0.5%. The method of standard fixation on cleaned and dried silica gel was compared with the procedure when standards are prepared by vaporization of solutions in quartz ampoules and washed out following activation. It was found that Cr and Sb are washed out incompletely in the latter procedure. (author)
