[en] ADF (amplitude-distance-flaw) diagrams are plotted for separate-combined transducers when checking austenitic facings. It is noted that an ADF-diagram for an austenitic facing differs from those for a pearlitic material. The variation of acoustic properties with the thickness of a facing is established. Optimal types of separate-combined transducers are defined for continuity checking on austenitic facings ≥3 mm in thickness.
