[en] Compared to low latitudes, the high-latitude ionosphere appears as a highly structured plasma. Small-scale phenomena include density structures and field-aligned currents. Experimental results from the Arcad-3 satellite concerning these structures are presented and discussed: Electrostatic turbulence observed in large scale density gradients can be explained by the Gradient-Drift instability; magnetic bursts are related to localized field-aligned currents
