AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper reports on the results of environmental external ionizing radiation survey in Fujian Province. The distribution of radiation levels and their variance between different geologic features are discussed. The absorbed dose rate in air from terrestrial γ-radiation range from 3.6 to 32.1 x 10-8 Gy.h-1 (average 11.8 x 10-8 Gy.h-1) for outdoors and from 4.4 to 37.6 x 10-8 Gy.h-1 (average 15.7 x 10-8 Gy.h-1) for indoors. The total annual effective equivaent to the population of this province would thus be (8.4 to 14.4) x 10-4 Sv with an average of 1.17 x 10-3 Sv. The geologic structure in this province is rather complex with wide distribution of igneous rocks and granite rocks. Consequently, the terrestrial γ-radiation levels are comparatively high and in some regions the highest annual average absorbed dose rate in air reaches 204 mGy. The total area of such region is about 1.2 x 104 km2, with a population of about 3.0 x 106 persons
