[en] In the currentless phase of NB-heated discharges in W VII-A the radiation owing to accumulation of impurities (mainly oxygen) rises drastically towards the end of the discharge. Simultaneous bolometric measurements using a horizontal viewing position reveals broader radiation profiles as well as enhanced total radiation.
