AbstractAbstract
[en] The VOM-21H irradiation test, an experiment of in-situ tritium recovery from sintered Li2O pellets, has been carried out at the JRR-2 of JAERI. This report focuses on the relationship between tritium chemical form and hydrogen concentration in the sweep gas. The tritium generation rate in the VOM-21H experiment was about 300 μCi/min. This rate was equivalent to 1 ppm of tritium concentration (as T2O or T2) in the sweep gas. Concentrations of deuterium added to the sweep gas were 10, 100 and 1000 ppm. It was found that tritium release enhancement by hydrogen addition to the sweep gas is caused by conversion of tritiated water vapor to tritiated hydrogen gas through the hydrogen isotopic exchange reaction. The relationship between hydrogen concentration and conversion efficiency was consistent with thermodynamic calculation. (author)
