AbstractAbstract
[en] The British Government has given the go-ahead for a Pressurised Water Reactor to be built at Sizewell on the Suffolk coast. The decision follows the publication of the official report of Sir Frank Layfield, the Inspector at the Sizewell Public Inquiry. The report, which recommended in favour of the project, took no account of the Chernobyl accident, which makes nonsense of the risk assessment calculations, and no account of falling oil prices, which makes equal nonsense of its economic case for building the reactor. The report should be seen for what it is: a rubber stamp to a foregone conclusion. (author)
