AbstractAbstract
[en] A prototype robotic system developed to conduct radiation surveys on nuclear waste shipping casks is discussed. The system integrates sensing and model based control into the operation of a commercial gantry robot. This allows location of the cask, automatic development of radiation survey test plans, and execution of complete radiation surveys, including force controlled contact swiping at random locations on the cask surface. The robotic system incorporates data management and real-time graphical presentation of survey results. 11 refs., 8 figs
