AbstractAbstract
[en] Three materials have been developed and tested which are suitable as transparent conducting electrodes on mercuric iodide; aqueous ionic contacts of NAC/ell/ and LiC/ell/, polyvinyl alcohol/phosphoric acid, and indium--tin--oxide (ITO). Polyvinyl alcohol/phosphoric acid is a conducting polymer and ITO is a wide band gap semiconductor. Photocell dimensions were in the range of 0.5 to 3.8 cm diam by about 1 mm thick. Photocells with these electrodes were evaluated for their spectral response in the range of 300 to 650 nm, response uniformity over the electrode activities area, leakage current and reliability. All units showed better than 75% quantum efficiency in the range 350 to 550 nm. Photodetector leakage currents ranged from 25 to 200 pA and have shown long term stability up to 1 year
