[en] This research, which is still in progress, and in which the author continues to participate in the absence of further DOE support, consists of a study of interactions between O/sup 16/ and S/sup 32/ ions and copper and uranium nucleii performed at the CERN SPS, and using the existing NA10 dimuon spectrometer enhanced by an upstream electromagnetic calorimeter an active target assembly, and beam hodoscopes. The strategy of the experiment has been described in the proposals of the present contract, and the rest of this report will be confined to a summary of the preliminary results obtained. 3 refs., 2 figs
