AbstractAbstract
[en] In 1938 the Norwegian Parliament passed a law to ensure protection against ionizing radiation. The law stated that all use of ionizing radiation should be under governmental supervision. To enact this supervision, the National Institute for Radiation Hygiene was established in 1939. This booklet gives a historical review of the institute's development, which to a great extent reflects the general development of radiation protection in Norway
