AbstractAbstract
[en] A scintillation material was developed for radioactivity detection in liquid and gas chromatography. The starting material is crystalline Al-Y perovskite doped with Ce and La ions, which is heat treated at 1100-1700 degC under hydrogen for 1/2 to 8 hrs, ground, and screened to obtain a fraction 20-30 μm in grain size. The grain surface is modified by etching with phosphoric acid at 400-600 degC for 5-60 sec or with NaOH at 100-200 degC for 10 min. For some applications this material can be coated with a monomer (e.g., a styrene-divinylbenzene mixture) and exposed to gamma radiation to achieve complete polymerization of the monomer. The material suggested exhibits a high detection efficiency for β radiation, short luminescence times, a high chemical, mechanical and radiation resistance, and low sorption properties. (P.A.)
